Writer, reporter, ethnographer
Hi – I’m Claudia, a Danish journalist based in Brooklyn where I write about intimate politics and culture. With a background in Anthropology, I report from where power intersect with the most personal experiences – covering everything from pro-natalism, to sex work, death and grieving.
I recently received my Master of Arts from Columbia Journalism School, where I specialized in Politics and worked on both long form writing and narrative audio projects.
Previously, I produced Denmark’s leading daily news podcast, shaping deeply reported, high-impact stories for over a million weekly listeners. Currently, I am working on a major non-fiction book project with Professor Alexander Stille.

The battle over Roosevelt
Roosevelt Avenue in Queens is a corridor of rust and iron - where the elevated subway runs low and loud over an already noisy and busy street. A historic first haven for immigrants, the street has been prone to street vending and sex work, but a group of residents have been noticing a change, and they are fighting to get their neighborhood back in wildly different ways.

A Good Death, TM
Death doulas argue that if we think about, talk about, and plan for death, we will transition out of life with more ease. But can that be true for everyone? I explore death and dying with resident Death Doula at Greenwood Cemetery, Gabrielle Gatto.

What Mahmoud Khalil’s arrest means for… everyone
Mahmoud Khalil, a legal permanent resident and Columbia alum, was detained by ICE for his role in leading pro-Palestinian protests at his former university last year. As Khalil's case has captured the nation's attention, free speech advocates see it as a test of the First Amendment. Meanwhile, the Trump administration argues they have the right to deport Khalil without charging him with a crime. On this episode, I reported on campus and talked to Gene Demby about the chilling atmosphere.
Gerard and Christar grew up in an unusual home and, like most kids, they adored their father. Not everyone saw the legendary porn director in in the same generous way, and after scandals have taken down his name (unfairly according to Gerard and Christar) the siblings are now fighting to restore his legacy.
